Girls in STEM
Due to COVID-19, we will be running our Girls in STEM Monthly Club online.
- Are you a girl in Grades 6, 7 and 8?
- Are you interested in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields?
- Are you a parent who knows a girl in Grades 6, 7, and 8 who you would like to encourage to consider research or a career in the STEM fields?
This club is open to girls in grades 6 - 8. It meets on the first Saturday of every month, featuring two 75 minute workshops from 10am - 1:15pm, starting on January 8, 2022, and ending with the Girls in STEM Conference on May 7, 2022. Students enrolled in this program will have monthly workshops or seminars that will engage them in various topics in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
If you have participated in the program in previous years, we do not encourage re-enrollment as some workshop topics may repeat from previous years.
Workshops will be led by female members of various departments throughout the year. The materials covered in the class will be separate from standard school curriculum and pre-requisite knowledge is not required.
Limited BURSARIES are available.
Each year the Department of Mathematics, in partnership with other University of Toronto departments and industry partners, offers an annual Girls in STEM conference.
The next conference will take place on Saturday, May 7, 2022.
The conference will feature speakers and workshops from across the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
The program is only open to girls currently in Grades 6, 7, or 8 and spaces are limited. This program is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
